I REALLY SHOULD SHOWERE SHAVE, AMD COMB MY HAIR, next time I do one of these,(I LOOK LIKE HELL) but we wanted to shoot first thing in the AM after we saw green day play the entire new album before it comes out next month. TURN YOU AUDIO UP, its a little quiet.

 

I was fortunate enough to attend the official 21^st Century Breakdown kickoff show last night at the Fox Theater in Oakland.  Full staging lights, backdrop , posters merch and most impressively they played the entire new album start to finish.  WOW. It’s  massive sounding.  I know that might be crazy but with Butch Vig producing the record it might be better than American Idiot.  People hype music all the time and that is way annoying but for real.  I had never heard these songs before and it stoked me out.  I CAN”T WAIT  for the full disc next month.  After the played the entire record Green Day broke right into American Idiot and played about 40 minutes worth of hits like Welcome to Paradise , She, and Jesus of Suburbia.  They also covered “Shout”  , which I was feeling , it’s probably the only song I like to dance to a wedding.

These short notice rehearsal shows are still being announced all over Northern CA.  Tonight they are back at the Uptown ithin Oakland 8pm.  No adnavce tix, first come first serve, 20 dollars at the door. 

I was, along with Laith the Intern,  able to snatch some illegal photos.  The backdrop and artwork was really impressive. this is the before show shot.

 Laith met Butch Vig at the Soundboard.  Butch produced the new record, as well as many of the greatest alternative rock albums ever.  Not sure who the other guy is but I think he might be the cief editor for Rolling Stone.

Lily is Rock & Roll.  While she sounded great at the Warfield, I thought she would have been a little more into it on stage.  Like I said .. She sounded tight..  Nailed it…  It was just minutes after the show in SF  that she told me that she was really bored before the show  and there were 4 bottles of wine in here dressing room.  I was kinda jealous.   I like wine…..  She then in a slurred cockney brit accent went on to tell me that James or Jay maybe(I can’t remember) her security guard sucked at his job because he was not keeping Lindsey Lohan away from  her shows.  She raged  on using curse words I had never heard before, “ Like I don’t want f?&@#ing Lindsey Lohan on stage with me or hanging out.  It was awesome seeing a European pop/rock star in rare form.   

I loved it..  Most people I meet in bands are normal and pretty together which is nice, but I like having this experience better. Think about it, If you met Johnny Rotten and he was nice to you that would be kind of a crappy memory.  I want him to be a jerk..  Lilly I wanted to see drinkin..  Made my weekend.  Plus I think Lindsey Lohan is a hack.

The only part I can’t figure out is Lindsey Lohan dates Samantha Ronson.  Her brother is Marc Ronson, good friend and producer for Lily.  Lindsey keeps getting on stage and pissing Lily off.  Interesting circle of love, family and booze.  Lily you kick ass.

This weeks topic “Bands getting back together”

Laith does seem confused by something this week, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. I have been working on my majic tricks for a while now. Now please enjoy this weeks video blog.

Agent M, formerly of Tsunami Bomb , has a new band called The Action Desisn, they stopped by the PRA show and rocked it with an acoustic version of their song Landmines.

Folk Punk, Irish Punk what ever you want to call it. I am gonna dedicate an entire hour to the genre, the feel and the mood for St. Patrick’s day.  Since this Friday March 13th, wow Friday the 13th, is the last Friday before the 17th.  I will mix it up , stretch things a little ; maybe give out some cheer to the pirate punks as well.  On one of the funnest  episidodes of PRA all year.  Friday at noon on KWOD 106.5 Sacramento or kwod.net. You can also listen on your computer or phone. 
And Yes, there will be Guinessin the studio.
